Description: In this workshop, 4th-6th graders students will get the chance to write, illustrate, and publish their own storybook! It will be a step-by-step class, helping students craft engaging stories, illustrate their own book, and help format for publishing. By the end of the program, the students’ books will be published on Amazon and they will receive a free author copy!

Showcase Your Love Foundation is happy to present the Environmental Science Research Competition where ALL students 4th-6th grade can enter to make an informational poster. There will be prizes for the top 3 competitors, ranging from $300-$100 gift cards. Refer to the flyer and guidelines below. In this bootcamp, students will learn how to go from ideas to formulating a thesis and conducting research! They will get tips on how to present your findings clearly, and receive guidance from experienced mentors throughout the entire research process.

Our 2024 Summer Camp has finally come to an end! We had so much positive feedback from all the students and parents, but none of this would have been possible without our wonderful teachers, Shawn, Ryan, Allison, and Chloe.

Junior Journalist Camp – Shawn, Ryan, and Allison

In this camp, Shawn and Ryan introduced students to the world of journalism. Students had a fun time learning public speaking, interview skills, research, journalism writing, intro to social media, and video editing! Shawn, Ryan, and Allison worked tirelessly to not only plan this camp, but instruct it as well. Thank you Shawn and Ryan and Allison for all of your hard work and dedication!

Language Arts and Science Camp – Allison and Chloe

In the Language Arts and Science Camp, Allison and Chloe taught both English and science to many students. For language arts, they learned about poetry and storytelling. For life science, students learned about invertebrate animals! Students had so much fun with Allison and Chloe during these past few days. All of this would not have been possible without the hard work and preparation of teachers. Thank you for everything Allison and Chloe!

We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to all the accomplished recipients of the 2024 SYLF Scholarships! The recipients of this year have been a part of the Tutors 4 Kid program since 2020! Our exceptional high school tutors have dedicated substantial amounts of time each week to voluntarily foster a love for learning within the Tutors 4 Kid community. These dedicated tutors have demonstrated exceptional diligence in assisting students in need from across the nation. Let’s hear each recipients personal journey of growth while being a part of the Tutors 4 Kid community.

Throughout my time with Tutors 4 Kid, I’ve learned the importance of patience, empathy, and tailored teaching. This came from the many different children I tutored that each had their own style of learning- requiring a different approach towards different people. The significance of tailored teaching stemmed from building a supportive, engaging, and mostly fun learning environment. Through hard trial and error, I learned that a more carefree and less intense environment with more implemented play and breaks was often more helpful in regards to the students retaining information. Although volunteering for Tutors 4 Kid was one of the first things I did to positively impact the community, I was able to realize how crucial doing kind and warmhearted deeds is toward the community. I have since then carried this ideal throughout my high school academic and athletic career by being the first athlete to not participate in a varsity sport to make our school’s Athletic Council of Leadership and by generally being more confident and comfortable when volunteering and meeting new people every day.

With every click into my weekly tutoring sessions, I enter a completely new world of passionate speeches and squiggly whiteboard masterpieces. In this universe, time loses all meaning as I begin to create sparks of understanding in my students. By getting to nurture their authentic excitement, I believe that teaching and learning become one. I have not only been able to push my tutees towards a more well-rounded understanding of their studies, but also gained a wealth of knowledge myself on different learning styles, abilities, and passions. Working with Tutors 4 Kid even gave me the ability to become a mentor to some students, which has taught me tenfold of what I have taught others about teaching, learning, and connecting with the community. Such community only grows each time I tutor, for I embrace the complexly beautiful web between both teaching and learning and push others to do the same.

The SYLF Scholarship for our Tutor 4 Kid’s tutors! This is a free scholarship for our high school senior tutors who are heading off to college. The scholarship is a total of $3000 with 4 winners receiving $500 each and 4 winners receiving $250 each.

The deadline for the scholarship application is by May 31, 2024. There is more information about the eligibility and requirements in the attached flyer.

During this holiday season, we would like to express our gratitude for our Tutors 4 Kid Family.

We would first like to thank our workshop leaders, Ryan and Hazel. A few weeks ago, they hosted the annual Christmas Festival event. During the event, they had a blast and taught kids how to make cards for the Assisted Living Life Enrichment. During this season, don’t forget to spread love to everyone!

Additionally, we have received a lovely message from one of the tutors on the workshop team. In this thoughtful message, they expressed their appreciation for the Tutors 4 Kid community and how much it has positively affected their life. Not only does Tutors 4 Kid want to inspire and help tutees, but our very own tutors as well.

Our Annual Holiday Festival!

Thanksgiving is approaching, followed by the arrival of Christmas. On December 2nd, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM (Pacific Time), we will be hosting an online Christmas party to celebrate with Tutors 4 Kid.

The teachers have prepared exciting games and have arranged abundant gifts, creating an afternoon full of joy and surprises for everyone. Teachers will also guide the children in creating artwork and encourage them to turn their creations into cards to be given to the elders in nursing homes, sharing warmth and love.

What’s even more fun is that teachers will teach the children how to write letters to Santa Claus! Yes, they will actually send them out, and there might be a delightful reply! In this digital age, do your children know how to write letters and address envelopes? The teachers will personally guide the children in writing letters to Santa Claus and send them out. Perhaps, they will indeed receive a reply from Santa Claus! “Letter to USPS Operation Santa” is a Christmas activity by the United States Postal Service, so let’s join this wonderful event together and experience the joy and warmth of Christmas!
